About Our Sacramento Criminal Defense Attorney

Akaash was born and raised in Northern California. He is proud to have attended public schools growing up, graduating from Roseville High School in Roseville, California. He then attended UC Davis, where he received a bachelor’s degree in sociology. While studying at UC Davis, Akaash became interested in the criminal justice system and its intersection with race, class, and gender dynamics.

Akaash then went on to study at Pepperdine Law School in Malibu, California. His favorite classes in law school were criminal law and trial advocacy. During his trial advocacy classes, Akaash discovered a talent for trial work, winning each mock trial he completed.

During law school, he was mentored by a prominent criminal defense attorney. Akaash’s main instruction was to watch criminal jury trials going on at the local courthouses. By observing many criminal trials, he began to understand how they work, and he realized that he found them highly fascinating. He witnessed firsthand the tremendous impact that attorneys can have on their clients’ lives.

After being admitted to the California Bar, Akaash served as a Deputy District Attorney for over two years. In this role, he prosecuted criminal cases of virtually every category, gaining valuable experience. He handled cases at every phase from pre-filing, to trial, to appeal. He completed over a dozen trials, including jury trials as lead counsel at both the misdemeanor and felony level.

After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Akaash decided to found his own law firm. Nagra Law Firm P.C. is based in Sacramento, California, and practices criminal law throughout California. Akaash considers himself very fortunate to be able to defend the constitutional rights of the people in the state where he grew up. He truly appreciates the opportunity to make an impact in each of his clients’ lives.
